Good mourning all,I just started up my computer and that darn Quicktime loaded itself again.I'm wondering if there is any way to keep it from loading without my permission.Everytime I view anything using Quicktime the next time I start up it loads itself.Man that annoys me when programs do that, should be a law to keep them from messing with my computer without permission.Thanks,Ed.

# Quit QuickTime Player. # From the Start menu, click Control Panel. # In Control Panel, open Add or Remove Programs. # Select QuickTime from the list of currently installed programs, then click Uninstall. # When asked if you would like to remove QuickTime, select Yes. # After the uninstallation is complete, do not restart if you are prompted to. # If other entries were present for QuickTime remove those as well. # Restart your computer. # After the computer restarts, open Local Disk (C:) in Computer or whichever disk programs are installed on. # Open the Program Files folder. # Right-click the QuickTime folder and select Delete and choose Yes when asked to confirm the deletion. Note: This folder may have already been deleted if QuickTime was successfully removed in steps 1-7. # Delete the QuickTime and QuicktimeVR files located in the C:\Windows\system32\ folder. Click Continue if Windows needs confirmation or permission to continue. # Right-click on the Recycle Bin and on the shortcut menu, click Empty Recycle Bin. # Restart your computer.
Option B edit your start menu and remove it from loading when windoze starts.

Thanks Chokota, when I uninstall it like that will I still be able to use it when I have to?I use a program called "RegCleaner 4.3 by Jouni Vuorio"that lets me zap it off my start up menu with 4 clicks so thats pretty easy but it still bothers me that it loads at start up.Thank you for your help.By the way I'm glad your still with us and as far as I'm concerned your the Commander and what you say is LAW.Just my two cents.

Or...
Start, Run, type in msconfig
When that opens click the StartUp tab.
Uncheck qttask - that is the Quicktime startup file.
Click Ok. There is no need to reboot unless you would prefer to.

If you uninstall it, it will not be available any longer.
By the way, if you have iTunes, it usually updates Quicktime at the same time. When it does it will put it back in the startup. Go back to msconfig and uncheck it after every iTunes update.
